  Transcranial Cortical Stimulators

  Used worldwide as an effective tool for intraoperative monitoring (IOM) of the spinal cord, the D185 Multipulse Transcranial Cortical Stimulator is the ONLY standalone surgical stimulator with FDA clearance for this technique. The D185 features a very high voltage and current output to enable effective stimulation through the cranium.  It is particularly useful for monitoring of descending motor tracts during surgeries including tumour re-section, repair of aortic aneurysm and scolliosis correction. The D185 can be supplied with accessories including electrode connection headboxes and trigger cables compatible with a range of IONM systems. The D185 may also be used for stimulation of deep peripheral nerves during neurophysiological examinations and we manufacture a range of electrode handles specifically for this purpose.

  Peripheral Stimulators

  Digitimer manufactures a range of electrical stimulators for peripheral nerve and muscle stimulation, several of which are medically approved within Europe, the USA or other countries. Each has different capabilities so we can best meet the wide variety of potential clinical or human research applications.

  Most of our peripheral stimulators, including the DS7A, DS7AH and DS7R deliver monophasic rectangular constant current pulses in response to a TTL trigger input.In contrast, the DS5 Bipolar Constant Current Stimulator may be controlled by an analogue voltage arbitrary waveform which converts into an isolated current pulse that mirrors the shape and size of the command signal.  The DS5 was originally developed to permit computer controlled threshold-tracking studies of nerve excitability, but has since become a popular choice for applications including galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS), Trans-auricular Vagal Nerve Stimulation (taVNS) and when used in pairs, Temporal Interference Stimulation (TIS). Finally, the DS8R is an advanced biphasic, high current/voltage research stimulator that allows "on the fly" computer control of stimulation protocols and thanks to a custom firmware option, has become popular for high-frequency (10kHz) transcutaneous stimulation of the spinal cord (tSCS).  The DS8R may be controlled by software programs including Python, Matlab and CED Spike2 and Signal.
