Mains (50/60Hz) Noise Eliminators

Signals recorded using biological amplifiers and other high impedance devices are often contaminated with 50 or 60 Hz mains interference otherwise known as line noise, leading to corruption of the content of these electrophysiological signals and a degradation of the quality of subsequent data analysis.

Traditional methods such as 50/60Hz notch filters can help, but filtering will lead to distortion and signal degradation, so is not an ideal approach.  In contrast, active noise eliminators construct an evolving noise template which, in realtime,  is subtracted from the signal of interest.

Digitimer now manufactures the original single channel Humbug alongside our new multi-channel D400 Mains Noise Eliminator, available in 2,4 and 8 channel variants for effective removal of mains interference without signal distortion.
