Flyion
GmbH have developed system for obtaining automatic
and reliable whole cell recordings from ion channels expressed in
mammalian cells. Using "Flip the Tip" technology,
a specially fabricated glass microelectrode is filled with a cell
suspension and giga-ohm seals are made between cells flushed
towards the tip. By applying suction from the outside of the
tip, a stable whole cell recording can be achieved with extremely
low access resistance (approx. 3Mohm). Alternatively, the
system is also capable of making perforated patch
recordings. Flyion currently offer the Flyscreen 8500 Patch
Clamp Robot as well as the more compact PatchBox. NEW
Optionally supplied with Intracellular Perfusion The
Flyscreen & PatchBox can now be equipped with intracellular
perfusion allowing rapid intracellular solution exchange in
addition to the existing extracellular solution exchange.
Intracellular solution exchange enables the researcher to measure
intracellular ligand and concentration effects on ion channel
activity.

FLYSCREEN 8500 Patch Clamp Robot |
 |
The
Flyscreen 8500 patch clamp robot
is a fully automated patch clamp system for
electrophysiology laboratories or shared facilities within
the academic environment. The 3 or 6 channel robot can
be supplied with HEKA EPC10-3 Patch Clamp
Amplifiers,
Personal Computer with two TFT screens and Flyscreen
Suite/Patchmaster software packages.
The
Flyscreen 8500 uses cost effective racks of Flip Tips (for
voltage gated channels) or Chip Tips (for Ligand Gated
channels).
